The best practice guideline for Managing Environmental Effects of Onshore Petroleum Development Activities (Including Hydraulic Fracturing), is a guideline for regional and district councils who are processing applications and was published in 2014. 4862  It discusses the well life cycle as well as outlining potential effects:

  • Chemical substances
  • Waste management and disposal
  • Discharges to air
  • Traffic and transport
  • Noise and vibration
  • Visual amenity
  • Induced seismicity
  • Social, economic, historic heritage and cultural issues
