Regional Policy Statement

A Regional Policy Statement (RPS) must state the significant resource management issues for the region. Under the RMA Regional councils have the function of control of the use of land for the avoidance or mitigation of natural hazards.  A RPSmust state the local authority responsible for specifying the objectives, policies, and methods for the control of the use of land to avoid or mitigate natural hazards or any group of hazards. 3847 An example of an RPS is the Regional Policy Statement for the Wellington Region which can be viewed here
