Notification

Applications for full release, conditional release, field testing, and emergency release must be publicly notified. The EPA may publicly notify an application for containment approval if it considers that there is likely to be significant public interest.

In all situations, the EPA must also notify the Minister for the Environment, any department or Crown entity likely to have an interest in the application, the Department of Conservation, and any local authority likely to have an interest in the application. 2342

If public notification is required, the application must be publicly notified within 10 working days of being received. 2343

Where an application is publicly notified, any person may make a written submission. The submission should state the decision sought, the reasons for the submission, and whether the submitter wishes to be heard. 2344  Submissions must be received within 30 working days of the date of public notification. 2345
